Oh hey, I haven't updated for more than a week already. If anyone's reading, sorry! =P
Anyways, much has happened nowadays.. Heart-breaking, heart-warming, heart-wrenching, things with lots of heartss. <3>I hereby shall first give my credit to Tien Yi (no plagiarism here) for this short paragraph I found in her blog:
Like on Sunday, I saw an old couple at the train station. They were at least 70 years old, and they were still holding hands as they shuffled slowly to the shopping centre. That instant, I saw a glimpse of eternity. That day, I realized that true love forever isn't in passionate kissing and sweet nothings and expensive chocolates.....rather, it's in the quiet, gentle dignity of the two old people, holding hands as they travel towards infinity.
Things nowadays are so fast-paced, people are rushing here and there everyday, and we've somehow forgot to stop and take a breather and look at what the world has to give us (the beautiful nature), or what we've done to the world (horrible global warming for instance?). And I think that due to this non-stop shuffling here and there in life, we've somehow forgot to live life the way it's supposed to be lived.
We are too busy to go back to our hometowns to visit our relatives..
We are in such a BIG rush sometimes we don't even slow down to chew and eat our food properly and instead settled for fast food restaurants.
Cellphones, e-mail and IM have replaced old-fashioned letter writing (it's not a bad thing larr.. But you know, a letter once in a while is more sincere and it's a permanent thing! Unless we destroy it ourselves that is..)
We resort to elevators instead of walking up the stairs even if it's just 1 floor up/down.
These are the few examples that we (in general) do everyday..
We hear some people breaking up with their other half because long distance relationship won't work. I wonder in the olden days, without the convenience of internet and telephones, how do they keep in touch and still love each other so much? They write letters to each other, and these letters take weeks, sometimes months to reach the recipient, and they continue to do this until they get married and live under the same roof.
Like the husbands and wives today, goodness gracious me, it's all divorcing here, divorcing there. Especially when both of them are working people. Therapies! Yes, this is a very good way to sit down and talk it out, but can't they just talk it out at home? Isn't it the same?? I mean, who've heard of therapies before the 21st century??
Reasons?
-He/She's always not at home
-He/She's too obsessed about her work
-He/She has no time for me anymore
-I think that he/she doesn't care for me anymore etc..
To me, divorce shouldn't come from these kinda reasons, adultery, yes of course! But is working so important until we don't have time for the people we love? Is money everything? Is a perfect marriage worth destroying because of working?
Money is an endless thing, we earn them, we use them. It's a neverending process and we'll continue to do that for the rest of our lives. The question is, do we waste our lives away to earn the things we can never have enough? We can never have enough money. Really, ask anyone.
Maybe we should give ourselves a day or 2 every week, stop what we're doing, and instead, do something we love with the people we care about: family, friends, anyone.
Take some time off and read carefully what she wrote. It's meaningful. Very. =)
Today's post marks the 50th post in my blog since it's making. Hooray!
And September ended today. Welcome, October. =)
